THE SONNET’S JOURNEY
To write a sonnet, it’s best to have a notion
By which your train of thought is set in motion:
Perhaps it’s just a whisper from your Muse,
A simple hint of something you can use
To start your train of thought along its track
While heady phrases billow from its stack,
And by the time you’re midway on your course
And well engaged with your creative Source,
You start to see where all your thoughts may tend
While contemplating how your poem will end,
Hoping you’ll develop all your thought,
Discovering on your way what you had sought,
For once your final couplet has begun,
There’s little you may say before you’re done.
