FIAT LUX
Imagining that life is like a flame
That shines its little while and then goes out,
A game about accomplishment and fame
Where one may prove a hero or a lout—
All that is off the mark: we do not die,
For spirits live eternally as souls,
And may incarnate for another try
Experiencing not one but many roles.
Time’s a vacation from eternity,
A chance to get some traction and to know
The deeds here chronicled as history,
An opportunity to change and grow.
If life’s a flame, it burns eternally
With heaven’s light—or else infernally.
