RETRIBUTION
A thug broke in to our near neighbor’s house
Just yesterday, afflicting all around,
Now terrified to think that such a louse
Is loose and praying hard that he’ll be found.
We all are victims of this one offense,
Which has not simply broken through one door
But shattered every neighbor’s confidence
Who’ll never feel such safety as before.
While extra measures for defense are taken:
Alarms and locks and barricades installed,
Our trust in others’ innocence forsaken,
We feel now disillusioned and appalled.
May this malicious perpetrator know
And feel such fear and anguish as we know!
