MEASURES OF MY MIND

These measures of my mind—or, rather, minds—
Display how I can play with different kinds
Of verse, though mostly sonnets of all sorts,
For in that mode my Muse gaily cavorts.

One kind of sonnet mainly (rather rare)
I have experimented with: a pair
Of rhyming lines its building block,
The Couplet Sonnet keeps time like a clock

Compelling me to marshal in parade
A motley crew of raw recruits arrayed
Now in more seemly garb, in double file,
Odd thoughts refashioned in a sprightly style,

And by this means I search my various minds
Pacing the path where subtle insight winds.
