COSMOGONY
I marvel at the Cosmos’ mystery—
How it and, over many eons, we
Have come to be and now can comprehend
Its origin and scope, if not its end.
At least we now have theories that seem sound,
Accounting for the cosmogenesis,
Yet still we seek for something more profound
To prove it not a meaningless abyss—
That underlying all, some cosmic plan,
Once we have fathomed it, will prove a guide
For our responsibilities as Man,
Permitting us in wisdom to abide.
I pray that such enlightenment is near
Before we make this planet disappear.
