BOUND TO BE FREE

        There’s no religious teaching that’s above
        The prime imperative of giving love;
        To sing of Christian soldiers marching on
        Invokes an old fallacious paragon.

        To love is not to capture but set free
        (As shown in freedom’s etymology)
        The oxymoron of religious war
        Reveals one’s faith as rotten at its core.

             Although at root, religion means to bind,
             We’re only truly bound to being kind.

__________
Freedom
derives from an Old English word, freon, which means to love, to set free.
