Earth’s evolution has arrived at us,
The most sophisticated species yet;
However, also the most ominous,
Though not so sapient as we may get,
And in that prospect lies our highest hope,
An aptitude we’re best to cultivate
For, as things are, we’re on a slippery slope
And sliding toward a catastrophic fate.
The time is neigh to take our greatest stride,
Not to the Moon or any far-off place,
But toward an attitude that must abide:
The miracle of our existence here
Implies a Sacredness we must revere.
