Suppose some others have their eyes on us
From elsewhere distant in this galaxy
Now judging us a minus or a plus,
A failed attempt or hopeful prodigy.
Let’s say they come because they see some hope
That with good counsel we may yet achieve
Advancements of a visionary scope,
Successes we as yet cannot conceive.
But then, this may have happened long ago,
And we’ve already met this messenger
Whose wise and holy counsel we’ve been slow
To follow but sad waywardness prefer.
That visionary guidance from above
Reveals the way to happiness is love.
