THE COURAGE TO BE

For all our faults and errors, it is we
              Who bear the grand responsibility
              Of growing into godlings capable
              Of more than any individual
Has yet achieved, except a treasured few
              Who sanctity and holiness pursue,
Arising to a rare and saintly state
Allowing them to enter Heaven’s gate.
What holds us down, not letting us aspire
To grander ventures and achievements higher
Is sometimes lack of vision, sometimes fear
              Making our aspirations disappear.
It’s courage, then, to be all we can be,
By which we’ll reach our full humanity.
